In short
No ads. No account. No tracking. Span never asks for your name, email address or phone number, and there's nothing to sign in to.
What leaves your phone, and why
Span stores your scores, answers and settings on your phone. Subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed by RevenueCat, Inc. (USA), which receives a random ID created on your phone, your purchase history, your App Store country, device model, iOS and app version, and a few product milestones (for example the date you finished your first test and which range that first score fell in). Span also sends anonymous usage events to its own server, which runs on Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) as the host: which screens you reached, how long you used the app and played each game, your game results and Span Scores, and app errors, with a random ID created on your phone, your device model, iOS and app version and your phone's language. Your IP address isn't stored, the events are deleted after about 13 months, and you can switch them off in Settings › Share anonymous usage data. Neither RevenueCat nor Span's server receives your name, email address, contacts or advertising identifier, and nothing is used to track you across other companies' apps or websites. We use this only to unlock and restore Span Plus, fix problems and check our provisional norms. To ask us to delete it, email us at support@voltragym.com.
Turning it off
Sharing usage data is on when you install Span, and you can withdraw your consent at any time: turn off Settings › Share anonymous usage data in Span. From then on no usage events or product milestones are sent, and any waiting to be sent are deleted from your phone. RevenueCat still receives what it needs to unlock and restore Span Plus. Turn it back on whenever you like. To ask us to delete what was already sent, email us at support@voltragym.com.
On this phone
Your age group, your onboarding answers, your tests and Span Scores, your Daily Span runs and personal bests, your streak, and your reminder, sound and haptics settings are kept in Span's own storage on this phone. The usage event for a finished test also carries your age group, your onboarding answers and how many times you had played the test's games before (counts only), so scores can be checked against the norms for people your age. Apart from that and the events and milestones described above, none of it is sent anywhere. Your phone's own backups may include it, as they do for any app.
Milestones RevenueCat receives
At most eight: the date you finished the chimp dare, the date of your first test and which range its score fell in (below 15, 15–49, 50–89, or 90 and up), the date of your first share, the first time you saw Span Plus, your first Daily Span, your seventh day playing, and your app language.
Challenging a friend
Only when you send a board, send a rematch or play a challenge, Span sends the game, the level, a random number that deals the board, your score and your animal (the animal you play as, picked on your phone, never a name) to its challenge server, which runs on Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) as the host, so the link you share can show that board and the scores. When you send a board, Span also uploads the link's preview picture, which it draws on your phone: the game, the level, the score to beat and your animal. Anyone with the link can see them, and each friend who plays it adds a score. No name, no account, no random ID and no IP address is stored with a challenge, and challenges and their pictures are deleted after 30 days. The challenge page keeps only daily totals of its views, App Store taps and copies. Span reads your clipboard only when you tap Paste a challenge link. Play with friends on one phone sends nothing.

Purchases
Purchases are made with Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Span never sees your payment details or your Apple Account email address; RevenueCat tells it whether Span Plus is active.
Notifications
Reminders are local notifications: your phone schedules and shows them itself. No push service is involved and no notification token is sent anywhere. Turn them off in Span's Settings or in iOS Settings.
Deleting your data
Settings › Erase everything on this phone deletes your scores and settings from this phone, and deleting the app does the same. Neither cancels a subscription; do that in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. To ask us to delete what RevenueCat or Span's server holds, email us at support@voltragym.com.
Children
Span is for people aged 16 and over and is not directed at children.
